BIO: Katie Crowley has trained as a soprano with some of Ireland's top vocal coaches for a number of years. She began her vocal studies in the Kerry School of Music working with Audrey O'Carroll. In 1999 she was awarded Kerry School of Music Student of the Year. In the same year, Katie began her third level studies in University College Cork in Computer Science. She continued her vocal training working with Veronica Dunne in Dublin. In 2005, she began her Masters studies in the University of Limerick in Music Technology. Here she acquired valuable skills as a Sound and Recording Engineer, among other subjects. During this phase of her study she worked with Limerick's top vocal coach Olive Cowpar.
Having been awarded an IRCSET (Irish Research Center for Science, Engineering and Technology) scholarship, Katie is currently working on a PhD in Computer Science in UCC. Her research is based on Voice Analysis for Singers. She currently has the pleasure of working with the world renowned vocal instructor, Mary MacSweeney, and is an active member in the Cork School of Music Opera Group.
Katie has been performning at church wedding ceremonies nationwide since 1996. Her repertoire covers classical, jazz, folk and traditional music. Katie is happy to learn new material that you may request for your big day! She is available for hire as wedding singer primarily in the Munster area.
